Green Audits
Green Audits discover what your organization's environmental performance is, pinpoint regulatory risks and liabilities, and identify areas where you can make financially sound, eco-friendly changes in how wastes are managed.
Waste Analysis
Waste Analysis is the first step Zero Waste Solutions takes in developing a tailored waste reduction plan; it pinpoints what kinds of products, materials, and processes your organization discards, and generates data that helps us recommend the most efficient and cost-effective waste reduction and recycling programs for your organization.
Recycling Management
A well-managed recycling program can significantly lower your waste hauling and landfill fees. Zero Waste Solutions can help you identify, sort, and turn recyclable materials, such as glass, paper, plastics, and electronics, into revenue.
Solid Waste Management
Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) is garbage. Zero Waste Solutions will help you understand what your MSW outputs are, help you dispose of them safely and inexpensively, and tell you how you can reduce or reuse waste products. We contract with preferred vendors based on all federal, state, or local regulations as well as reasonable costs. We identify the source of your wastes and recommend ways you can improve environmental performance.
Universal Waste
The California Department of Toxic Substances Control stated it best when it said:
"Universal wastes are hazardous wastes that contain mercury, lead, cadmium, copper and other substances hazardous to human and environmental health. In general, universal waste may not be discarded in solid waste landfills. Examples of these wastes are batteries, fluorescent tubes, and some electronic devices. The best way to reduce the harmful effects of these wastes on human health and on the environment is to reduce consumption. The next best thing is to make sure you DON'T throw them in the trash!"
Zero Waste Solutions ensures that hazardous universal wastes are handled safely and that they are properly transported to a facility where they can be properly recycled.
Composting
Composting is the controlled breakdown (decomposition) of organic materials into a rich soil-like product. According to the EPA, more than 67 percent of U.S. waste is compostable, such as grass and landscape trimmings, paper, coffee grounds and filters, and food scraps. Compost is a valuable product that can be used as a soil amendment, mulch, or to decontaminate natural habitats. Composting helps keeps organic materials out of landfills and incinerators. Zero Waste Solutions can establish a composting program for your company's organic wastes.
Environmentally Preferable Purchasing (EPP)
Zero Waste Solutions will help you identify, price, and buy "green" products that have been made out of recycled materials, or those that are less toxic, and are, therefore, healthier to people, animals, and the environment.
Green Cleaning
Green cleaning is a safer, healthier way to clean and improve indoor air quality. By using non-toxic, biodegradable, and environmentally friendly products and procedures (e.g., cotton cloths), green cleaning is an alternative to hazardous or harsh chemicals that results in lower janitorial costs, a reduced waste stream, and fewer workplace illnesses.
Equipment Maintenance
Proper maintenance and repair programs can extend the life of your equipment and reduce its replacement costs. Solid Waste equipment consists of bins, roll-off containers, dumpsters, compactors, balers, and shredders. Zero Waste Solutions will assess and recommend preventative maintenance schedules for your equipment in order to ensure that it continues to operate safely and efficiently.
