Composting

Composting is nature's way of recycling.  It is the decomposition of organic material such as leaves, twigs, grass clippings and vegetable food waste.  A wide range of materials can be composted, but they must consist of principally organic components.  Not only is food composting a better use of organic resources than land filling, it can also decrease refuse collection costs over the long term. ZWS is working with local material resource facilities to set up composting programs for businesses in the bay area. This is a great way to recycle organics and reduce trash in your dumpsters, along with the associated costs.

Grasscycling and composting are forms of source reduction or waste prevention because the materials are completely diverted from disposal facilities and require no municipal management.
