Area Manager, Northern California

Area Manager serves as the primary representative of the company for the designated regional with the operations dept. This person is responsible for successfully coordinating and directing all operational activities within the assigned region through their Site Managers to ensure the highest client and customer satisfaction levels and account retention, strong employee relations, achievement of financial goals and future business growth plans. In addition to achieving overall operational excellence, a key focus of the role is coaching, mentoring and development of direct reports, providing hands on training and experiential learning.
  • Responsibilities
    • Work-scheduling of all account personnel, establishing work standards, conduct site evaluations/inspections/audits, overall inventory/equipment usage, budget control, labor variances, employee performance appraisals, troubleshooting/problem solving, orientation/trainings, customer relations, special project work as requested, etc.
    • Represent company at client meetings, site tours, inspections and prospect for new business
    • Interact with clients daily to obtain feedback on services. Establish and maintain open lines of communication with clients.
    • Ensure that all service delivery is consistent with quality objectives and contractual requirements are being provided in a proper and cost effective manner
    • Respond to emergency situations in a timely and efficient manner
    • Focus on the needs and requirements of the client in order to achieve extraordinary service practices and exceed client expectations, while working closely with the Site Managers and Employees and as well as outside vendors and subcontractors.
    • Responsible for adhering to and enforcing established company policy and making sure assigned subordinates do likewise.
    • Operational responsibility for all services and related functions in several locations in a specific geographic area.
    • Understand wage and hour laws, collective bargain agreements, review timesheets and responsible for final submission of payroll.
    • Eliminate any overtime hours in operations.
    • Review/Approve any overtime work requested to perform any special projects requested by client. Approve all subcontractor services
    • Carry out both positive recognition and disciplinary actions as needed, notify Union with any disciplinary actions. Train subordinates as needed.
    • Responsible for reporting of accidents involving personnel, vehicles, public liability, property damage and property claims.
    • Provide feedback to collective bargain negotiation’s, maintain a pleasant working relationship with the bargaining unit, resolve any issues with employees and the bargaining unit (union) and respond/resolve any grievances
    • Support the sales team in client pricing and new account setup in your region. Maintain an awareness of competition in the marketplace and its potential impact on business.
    • Develop financial forecasts, productivity and staffing plans and budget. Analyze and interpret data and operational reports for trends impacting the business monthly. Initiative correction action as needed.
    • Respond to quality complaints, and correct the quality issue. Identify missed days of service, schedule makeup day. Visit locations during service hours as needed to verify service has been completed.
    • Act responsibly with purchasing authority, ensuring that expenditures are for company use and appropriate approval has been obtained prior to purchase.
    • Observe proper safety, Uniform Guidelines and OSHA regulations
    • Participate in Corporate Audits such as ISO 9001 and CIMS GB.
    • Participate in company provided training programs to maintain and improve management job skills
    • Investigate any complaints, injuries, etc. onsite and report your findings to the Corporate Office.
    • Administer regulations governing the use of company provided equipment’s, vehicles and facilities in off-work hours.
    • Maintain confidentiality of all confidential information and documents that you may have access to.
    • Performs other essential duties as required
